Jimmie C. Garcia, 88 of Albuquerque, formerly of Hatch, NM died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at home surrounded by his family. Jimmie was born October 31, 1919 in Casas Grandes, Mexico to Benito and Andrea Garcia. He served his country in the US Army during World War II during the Aleutian Campaign and in Germany. Jimmie lived most all his life in the Hatch area where he was well known doing Canal Patrol for the Bureau of Reclamation. He loved fishing and hunting but especially he was a gentle, soft-spoken family man who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Enriqueta C. Garcia of the family home; two sons, David C. Garcia and his wife Lillian of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Ben Garcia and his wife Yolanda of Gilbert, Arizona. Three daughters, Anita Fields of El Paso, Texas; Mary Esther Soliz of Las Cruces, and Elisaida Benavidez and her husband John of Albuquerque. Also surviving are three sisters, Petra G. Costalez of Aztec, NM; Celia G. Smith and Aurora Garcia both of Torrance, California, 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. His son Jimmie Garcia Jr. preceded him in death. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 PM on Friday, September 26, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where a Prayer Service will follow at 7 PM. Funeral services will be at 9 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2008 also at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Services and burial will follow at 11:30 AM at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, NM. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Lisa, David, Brittany and Terrence Garcia; Kristy Engen; Isaac and Aaron Fields; Sammy, Ellie Mae, and Katie Beth Apodaca; Bobbie Jo Radcliff; and Jeffrey and Monica Benavidez.
