Jimmy C. Navarro, age 78, born and raised in Las Cruces, NM, took God's hand when he heard God call him on December 28, 2021. He was born on July 25, 1943 in Las Cruces to Richard and Marie C. Navarro. Jimmy served in the U.S. Army from September 7, 1960 to September 6, 1963 serving as Sergeant with the 5th Infantry Division (mech) during the beginning of the Vietnam War era. He served in Greenland for about a year and shared many stories with his family and friends about his assignment adventures in the snow, cold temperatures, and unusual daylight hours. After leaving the Army, Jimmy started his Federal civil service career at White Sands Missile Range, NM, on December 28, 1967 and retired on August 3, 1998 with 27 years, 7 months, 6 days Federal service. His Federal service spanned many types of work to include supporting missile testing sites at 2:00 a.m. in the morning, serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (DCSLOG) at Ft. Ritchie, MD, and retiring as GM13, Contracts and Logistics Branch, White Sands Missile Range, NM. During his lifetime Jimmy praised God faithfully with personal morning and evening prayers and daily worship before the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. His service of our Lord included a large number of rosaries with the funeral homes in both El Paso, TX, and Las Cruces, NM. Jimmy worked with the prison ministry; was part of various prayer groups; provided pastoral guidance to any who asked; and chose a person each day to pray for. He consistently carried his Bible wherever he went. He called it his "sword". Often he was approached by those who saw his Bible to ask for prayer which he would do immediately with the individual with a great deal of passion and heartfelt belief in the Lord. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Marie and brothers: Joe, Nacho, Danny, Ramon, Henry, and Trinidad. Survivors include his wife Gloria; children Christopher, Paul (CynD), Timothy (Gina), Jon, Luke and Lisa; stepchildren Rebecca (Teofilo) and William (Jacqulyn) Rider; sister Sally; and brothers Chino (Isabel) and Mike (Bernice). He boasted having 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren with one on the way (all of them were his favorite). His surviving nieces, nephews, extended family, and longtime friends are too numerous to count but were precious to him. He loved family and friends!
