On March 20, 2013 the Lord called our beloved Joan Baker to be by his side. Joan was born in 1933 in Anniston, Alabama. She moved to Las Cruces with her family and was a resident for 61 years. She graduated Las Cruces Union High in 1953. She married George Baker in 1960 and had two children. She could often be found working on knitting, crocheting, and needlework projects. She was the leader in family banter over jigsaw puzzles. Joan also thoroughly enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Joan passed away peacefully at La Posada Hospice Center surrounded by family. She was a multiple cancer survivor and battled many other health issues throughout the past 13 years. She was preceded in death by her parents Zoie Frances and Lloyd Rooker, brother Forest Randolph Rooker, and brother in law James H. Powell. She is survived by her husband George Baker, children Frances A. Bloom and Brett Baker. She will be remembered by siblings Roma A. Powell and J. Darwin Rooker, grandchildren Michelle A. Bloom, Caley Jo Morales, Madison L. Baker, and Emmit Brooks, great-granddaughters Alexandra T. Bloom, Cameryn D. and Ashlynn J. Morales, and caring in
