Joan (Jo-Ann) Dennis Hillger, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away at Memorial medical Center on February 19, 2011. Joan was born in Rochester, TX to Rev. OL and Gladys Dennis on May 25, 1930. Joan moved with her family to Tucumcari, NM at age 3. The family moved to Hot Springs, NM when Joan was a freshman in high school. Their home was situated across the street from a long time Sierra County family named Hillger. Joan attended Harden Simmons University. Joan met and married the neighbor boy, Marvin. Joan and Marvin were married on February 23, 1952. Joan and Marvin have two children, Scott Hillger and Carol Glenn(Mark). Joan and Marvin were involved in the oil and gasoline business. IN 1970, Joan and Marvin expanded their business then making Las Cruces their home. Joan was the perfect partner both in life and in business to Marvin. Together they grew their business and their family. Hillger Oil Company became a very successful business that proved their business savvy and their partnership. Joan and Marvin traveled the world and together had many wonderful and great memories. Joan enjoyed many wonderful years working with the Auxiliary at Memorial medical Center taking pictures of newborns babies. Joan's greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. Her optimistic and fun spirit always brought her family great joy. Joan is predeceased by her sister Pasty Clavel (Jody). She is survived by her husband of 59 years; her son Scott Hillger of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Carol Glenn (Mark) and three grandchildren, Cassie, Whitney, and Kamren. She is also survived by her brother Bryan Dennis of San Antonio, TX; many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends that loved her very much. A visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday February 21, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11 am on Tuesday February 22, 2011 at University United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Medical Center or Mesilla Valley Hospice. PDF Printable Version
