Joanne Markham, 68, of Las Cruces fondly known, as the "Cookie Lady" died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008. She was born Aug. 3, 1940 in Freeport, Maine to Kenneth and Rosalie Nason Sr. She had a reputation for making cookies and also cooking with the Delta House at NMSU after many years of faithful service. Joanne was also a member of First Baptist Church and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all her family and many friends who knew and loved her. Her three children Richard, Michael and Billie Jo Markham; brother Kenneth Nason Jr., stepmother Roberta Nason; stepsister Rita Carter and stepbrother George Bailey survive her. Also surviving her are her grandchildren Angela Rose Elliott, Anthony and Lila Anne Jaramillo and Michael Markham Jr. Joanne was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard Markham Sr., and by two brothers Parker and Michael Nason. Memorial Services to celebrate her life will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008 at First Baptist Church. Following her memorial, a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Community of Christ Church. PDF Printable Version
