Joe A. Navarro, 82, of Las Cruces, NM passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 in Cabin John, MD. Joe was born on November 13, 1931 in El Paso, TX to Macario and Matilde Navarro. Joe was a happy and eloquent man, who always gave more than he took. He was quick with a smile, fast with a joke and was friendly to everyone he met. Joe was an avid sports fan and especially loved football. He looked forward to Sunday's in the fall after church to spend the day with his family and friends watching football. He also enjoyed watching is sons, daughter and grandkids playing sports or playing in a band or dancing in a recital. He was equally proud of all of their accomplishments. He was also an avid hunter and loved going deer hunting with his sons. Joe retired from the Civil Service in 1986. He was recognized by Ronald Regan as Civil Service Employee of the year in1983 at Holloman Air Force Base. He was loved and respected by his colleagues. After his first retirement, he drove school and activities buses both in Alamogordo and Las Cruces. He and his wife who preceded him in heaven, Arsenia (Archie) Lueras Navarro, moved to Las Cruces to be closer to their grand kids. They enjoyed many years grand-parenting; from watching some of the grand kids being born, through going to college and getting married. He is survived by his sons & daughter; Joseph Michael from Las Cruces, Arthur and His wife Loretta from Albuquerque, Armando and his wife Stephanie from Lafayette, Louisiana, Alicia Woodard and her husband Dean from Cabin John and Rudy and his wife Terry of Las Cruces. He is also survived by 11 grand children, Matthew, Katherine, Patrick, Madison, Adam, Angelo, Stephen, Aaron, Adrianna, Gabriel and Annaliesa; All who loved him very much. He is also survived by his brother Ernest of Lawton, Okla. Pall bearers will be: Angelo Navarro, Adam Navarro, Gabriel Navarro, Ernest Navarro Jr., Chris Vallejos, Robert Vallejos and Raymond Lueras. A viewing will begin at 2 pm with a Rosary at 3 pm and Funeral Mass at 3:30 pm to be held at the Santa Rita Catholic Church in Carrizozo, NM on Friday Sept 20, 2013. PDF Printable Version
