Walter "Joe" Stuart, 78, of Las Cruces died Tuesday June 20, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Adrian, Texas, on January 11, 1928 to Walter S. and Zella Mae Stuart. Walter "Joe" Stuart, 78, of Las Cruces died Tuesday June 20, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Adrian, Texas, on January 11, 1928 to Walter S. and Zella Mae Stuart. Joe enlisted in the Army in 1946 immediately after World War II. After serving in the army for a year and a half, Joe enrolled at the University of New Mexico and earned a degree from the College of Pharmacy. He then worked as a Pharmacist in Belen, Springer, Las Cruces and Truth or Consequences for over 50 years. Joe was a fisherman and hunter, but most avidly a golfer. Joe is survived by his wife Catherine of the family home, three daughters, Suzan Lucero and husband Fred, Sherry Brown and husband Larry, all of Las Cruces and Tami Stam and husband Clint of Phoenix, two brothers, Don and wife Bobbie and Randy and wife Sharron all of Las Cruces, NM. Other survivors are grandchildren Lance Jones of Phoenix, Megan Brown attending Oklahoma State University and Jennifer and Jason Stam of Phoenix. Great grandchildren are Miranda and Ariel Jones of Phoenix. Stepchildren are Mark Littlefield and wife Amy and son Daniel, Laura Lee Koch and husband Matt, and daughters Hanna and Sarah, and Philip Littlefield. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2006 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. A private family burial service will follow at a later time.
