Joene “Joy” Kleine, age 88, died peacefully on April 10, 2024. Joy was born in Harrison, Arkansas on August 14, 1935 to Orville and Ina Rowlett. Raised in California, she met and married Howard James Kleine in 1953. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Las Cruces and raised two boys.

Joene “Joy” Kleine, age 88, died peacefully on April 10, 2024. Joy was born in Harrison, Arkansas on August 14, 1935 to Orville and Ina Rowlett. Raised in California, she met and married Howard James Kleine in 1953. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Las Cruces and raised two boys.
Joy served in many roles over her lifetime. She was a wonderful mother, a loving grandmother, a housewife, and a financial secretary for Las Cruces High School. She loved helping and taking care of friends and neighbors. She was a lifelong member of University United Methodist Church, volunteer for Mesilla Valley Hospice and Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary. She loved reading romance novels, playing Sudoku, knitting, cooking, caring for her dogs and watching Sunday football.
Joy is survived by two sons, James and Jay, their wives Juanita and Nicole, and three granddaughters, Noemi, Julienne and Alexandra.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
