Joel Mark Arnold passed away at Thomason Medical Center in El Paso, TX on March 14, 2007 surrounded by his loving family. Joey was born June 15, 1958 to Jay and Georgia Arnold in Las Cruces, NM. He grew up in Las Cruces and graduated from Mayfield High School in 1976 where he received numerous honors for his achievements in football and wrestling. He later went on to obtain a technical degree from New Mexico State University. In 1979, Joey came home to take over the operation of the Arnold family pecan farm. Later he partnered with his brothers, Gary and Phillip, to form Arnold Bros., a specialized custom pecan farming business. Due in large part to Joey's hard work and dedication, Arnold Bros. grew over the years to become a prosperous and well-respected business in the Mesilla Valley. Joey was well known and admired throughout the national and local pecan and agricultural industry. Joey's interests started with the love for his wife and sons, including his dogs, fishing with his brothers, hunting with his brothers-in-law, and riding his motorcycle and four wheelers with family and friends. Joey also appreciated fellowship with family and friends at cookouts and special celebrations. Among other things Joey will be remembered for his special french fries, great personality, and story telling abilities. Joey also enjoyed working on projects in his shop and around the house. He was nicknamed, "The Bulldog." Joey is survived by his wife, Mary Therese (Salopek) Arnold, sons Joel Luke and Jay Thomas. He is also survived by his mother Georgia Arnold of Las Cruces, sister Susan Jesinsky and husband Dennis of Waco, TX, two brothers Gary Arnold and wife Karen, Phillip Arnold and wife Wanda both of Las Cruces, numerous nieces and nephews, and members of the Salopek family. Joey was preceded in death by his father Joseph (Jay) Arnold and his father-in-law Tom Salopek. Visitation will be held at Getz Funeral Home located at 1410 E. Bowman Ave. from five o'clock to seven o'clock on the evening of Sunday March 18, 2007. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church located at 106 S.
