John Eddie Mount Ed Slipped his earthly bonds on Sunday, 26 November 2017 with his wife, son, and daughter at his side. Ed came into this world at Bonners Ferry, Idaho, 31 December 1929. Because his father was an immigration officer on the US/Canadian Border, dad, mom, sister, and Ed, moved to several areas on the border. After three and half years at Gonzaga University and half a year working at the University of Colorado Geodetic Team in Northern Alaska, the Airforce accepted him into Cadet Pilot Training. As an officer and silver wings, he was sent to F86s in Hokido, Japan; followed by an assignment to France, then to Germany in F100s. After several hundred hours of flight time, those wings changed to Command Wings and assignment to New Mexico where he met his wife, Jane. They were married in 27 December 1960. With a new bride, he went back to finish his degree and later his MA for USC. Because the US was still in a Cold War Era; an assignment to check out in F105 was back to Germany to sit alert. To his delight, our son, Gregory was born there. Vietnam became a conflict, the Airforce and the Army, began to work together for missions. Ed was sent to Aschaffenburg, Germany to coordinate with the Army with forward air controllers. Later in Vietnam, Ed flew cover in the A1 for many of those troops. In May of that year, and to Ed's delight, Wendie our daughter was born. Assignments continued to Vietnam, Langley, Virginia, and Bergstrom, Texas, followed retirement from the Airforce; and starting a property management company in the Ketchum/Sun Valley, Idaho to Palm Springs, CA . Ed was asked to take a contract to manage a compound and teach Saudis management at a diesel plant in Eastern Saudi Arabia. Ed always laughed and said, "Take down the wallpaper, we have orders;" and packed our bags for the Middle East tour. Our lives with Ed, were full of love, laughter, work, skiing, hiking, conversation, learning, and always in the belief of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. We did love him. To our sadness, we lost our second son, Kent. Ed's ashes will be put beside our son in Arlington National Cemetery. A memorial for Ed will be held at 10 am, Saturday, 13 January 2018 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Ed never passed a beggar without giving them something. With so many people in need, we ask that instead of flowers, please give to your charity or St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for the needy. Our thanks for the care and kindness of the EMT's, doctors and nurses in the ER and ORI at Mountain View Hospital, and to Father Wally and Father Scott. Our love and thanks to the many friends here as well as many places in the world, who had called to say goodbye to Ed. Service Information
