John O. Davis, of Las Cruces, NM passed away with his family by his side Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. "Johnny" as he was affectionately known was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Logan and Juanita Davis. Johnny lived most his life in northern California, the San Francisco Bay Area where he was a Merchant Marine. He met and married the love of his life, Margaret Moodie and had two children. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and reading where he had a special interest in the Civil War. Johnny came to live with his daughter in Las Cruces about three years ago. He loved his family so much and taught them so much; he will be forever remembered and missed. Johnny is survived by his daughter, Debra Pitts and husband Dan of Las Cruces, NM; son, John Davis; brother, Howard Davis and wife Henrietta of Seaside, CA; three grandchildren, Melanie Pitts; Shawn Pitts and wife Ashley and Greg Davis and wife Lesley. Also surviving Johnny are honorary grandson, Nick Miller, two great grandsons; loving niece, Margaret Elevhall and husband Jim and his beloved dog and best friend, Zoe. He was lovingly met in Heaven by his wife Margaret; parents, Juanita and Logan and step mother Tracy Davis; sisters, Lorraine and Irene; brother James Oliver; sister in law, Mildred McAulay and brother in law, Angus McAulay. At Johnny's request, cremation has taken place and graveside services where his ashes will be placed will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Colma, California. PDF Printable Version
