Johnny Donald Carr 85, of Las Cruces, NM died on Sunday December 19, 2010. He was born on January 6, 1925 in Las Cruces, NM to Fred and Neva Carr. He was the middle of three children. Johnny joined the Navy when he was 14 years old where he served his country for 4 years. When he got out of the service he became a Police Officer for the City of Las Cruces. After he left the force he worked for the City of Las Cruces, he then moved to Ft. Worth, TX where he worked for the city in the transportation department until he retired in 1988. Johnny enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wordsearch puzzles. Johnny was an excellent handyman and there is nothing he couldn't fix. He loved sitting and visiting for hours and sitting at the kitchen table watching his wife cook. Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 4 years Connie Carr and their Chihuahua, Taco that he loved very much, his younger brother Robert Carr, 3 daughters Phillis Heiman, Debbie Baker, Deana Evans, son Mark Carr, step daughter, Renea Harrison, 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and his adopted son who helped take care of him in these recent years Justin Lawrence. Johnny leaves behind many friends that will mourn him and who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Fred Carr, sister, Francis Tate, mother Neva Carr, first wife, Ivy Jean Carr, and son Randy Carr. Cremation will take place and a memorial service is pending.
