Johnny O. Romero, of Las Cruces, NM died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Triumph Health Care Center in El Paso, Texas. He was born December 2, 1946 in Las Cruces, NM to Artemio and Julia Romero. Johnny served his country proudly, retiring from the United States Navy after 24 years of service. Johnny O. Romero, of Las Cruces, NM died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Triumph Health Care Center in El Paso, Texas. He was born December 2, 1946 in Las Cruces, NM to Artemio and Julia Romero. Johnny served his country proudly, retiring from the United States Navy after 24 years of service. He also retired from the United States Postal Service in California before returning to Las Cruces. He is survived by his wife Violeta of Las Cruces, NM; one son Johnny Romero, Jr of Oxnard, CA; Yvonne Dagum (Oliver) of Colorado Spring, Colorado; Nancy Kovach (Brandon) of El Paso, TX; and Valerie Romero of Oxnard, CA. Also surviving Johnny are 12 grandchildren, four brothers, Charlie, Henry, Joe and Larry Romero and four sisters, Soledad Archuleta, Lupe Acuna, Martha Romero, and Mary Helen Lara. The Prayer Vigil will be at 7 pm on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 12:10 pm on Monday, June 22, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Burke, officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery will full military honors. PDF Printable Version
