We are sorrowed by the passing of our brother, uncle and brother-in-law, Jose Diego Enriquez on February 15, 2018. He passed into the arms of our lord after an extensive illness which he courageously battled to the very end. The wonderful ICU personnel at Mountain View Regional Medical Center provided him with the most loving and dedicated care that anyone could ever wish for. Wonderful care continued to be given to him by the loving and wonderful staff at Mesilla Valley Hospice, La Posada, where he passed away shortly after midnight. Diego as he was most commonly called was born on November 12, 1944, in Las Cruces, New Mexico to Jose Borunda Enriquez and Angela Mendoza Enriquez. He is preceded in death by both parents and three sisters, Romelia, Elma, and Yolanda Enriquez. Diego was a lifelong resident of Las Cruces and was educated in in the Las Cruces Public Schools system. He was a graduate of Las Cruces High School in 1963. As a young boy, he served as an altar boy with the Catholic Church. He was employed by several restaurants during his working career. Diego was a simple man who lived a single but rich life, along with the many friends that he made along the way. He made many friends while on his daily noon visits to have lunch at the Munson Center. He did not let the fact that he was almost totally deaf deter him from having fun. He played the violin in the High School orchestra, sang with the local "Vaqueros" singing group of men, he loved to bowl in the Seniors league. Diego had a passion for planting flowers and shrubs in his yard. However, he was more passionate about potting and repotting plants, to achieve bigger blooms. He had many pots scattered around the house. Diego is survived by three brothers, Armando (Joan), Edward and Henry (Linda) Enriquez. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The rosary for Diego will be held on Wednesday February 21,2018 at 9:00 am following the visitation from 8:30 am to 9:00 am at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held the same day at 9:30 am. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery Arrangements by Getz Funeral Home, corner of Solano and Bowman Ave. To sign our online guestbook, please log onto www.GetzCares.com
