Jose H. Otero, 62, of Las Cruces, died Thursday, June 5, 2008. He was born May 11, 1946 in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico to Agustin and Elvira Hernandez Otero. Jose was a carpenter with the Carpenter's Local Union with more than 35 years of faithful service. He was an avid baseball fan who loved the New York Yankees and he also played baseball throughout the Mesilla Valley but his passion was for his two granddaughters Jasmine Nicole and Anissa Stella. Mr. Otero will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his two daughters Sophia Molina and husband Johnny and Rebecca Valenzuela and husband Johnny all of Las Cruces; brothers Antonio, Gilberto, Eulogio, Federico and Gregorio; sisters Leticia, Angelita and Teresita; two beautiful granddaughters Jasmine Nicole and Anissa Stella and by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. The Otero family would also like to thank Arturo Chavez and wife Angelita, Erlinda Garcia and husband Jerry, Maggie Stokes, Thomas Chavez and wife Bertha and Raymond Chavez and wife Melinda for being part of their father's family. Preceding Jose in death was his loving wife Stella Otero and his brother Blaz. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 also at Getz Funeral Home with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of Jose's family and friends and honorary pallbearers will be members of each of the families.
