Jose Luis Montelongo Profile Photo

Joe Montelongo, son of late Eugenio and Ofelia Montelongo, was born June 16, 1963, in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Irvin High School and later continued his education at Dona Ana Community College where he became a Certified Master Gardener.

Joe prided himself in being a perfectionist as a seamster, crocheter, baker, and framer. He delighted in designing and sewing anything from clothing, dolls to sewing together handwoven pieces by his former coworkers at Tres Manos Weaving. The talent and love that Joe put into each of his pieces can be seen in each cookie he baked during the holidays, every art piece he framed, and in the intricately crocheted blankets he created for clients, friends, and family.

When he wasn't crafting, Joe graciously volunteered his time at a senior community center, helped with a senior dance club and day program, and transported seniors to medical appointments. He put others before himself and spent much of his time caring for others including, but not limited to, his mother until her passing

May 2021. His passion for crafting lead him to many beautiful friendships he cherished, and he will be missed by many.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Eugenio and Ofelia Montelongo and his late partner, Robert L. McCallick Jr. He is survived by his fur babies, Guera, Nugget, Pickles, and Willow; Siblings: Maria Montes (Montelongo), Carlos Montelongo, Aurora Bustillos (Montelongo), Margarita Montelongo, and his nieces and nephews: Erica Scott (Montes), Lauren Montes, Ariele Montes, Cathy Tellez (Montelongo), Carlos Montelongo Jr., Niavana Salas (Bustillos), Corina Enriquez (Bustillos), Rebecca Corona (Bustillos), and Xiomara Castillo (Montelongo).

Services will be held at Blended Nation Fellowship at 498 Mccombs Rd, Chaparral, NM 88081 on October 16, 2021, at 11:00 am.
