Jose M. Contreras, 79, of San Pablo, NM died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 7, 1927 in Villa Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose and Ernestina Contreras. Jose was a dedicated father and husband. He had been a member of the Catholic Community all of his life. Jose M. Contreras, 79, of San Pablo, NM died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 7, 1927 in Villa Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose and Ernestina Contreras. Jose was a dedicated father and husband. He had been a member of the Catholic Community all of his life. Jose had retired after many years of service from NMSU as a custodian. Jose is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Guadalupe "Lupe" T. Contreras of the family home; one son Joe T. Contreras and Leslie Hennessee, two daughters Maria C. Trujillo and husband Edward H., of Las Cruces, Lupe Franco and husband Jesus of Anthony, NM; four brothers Federico Contreras of Phoenix, AZ, Manuel Contreras of Mesilla Park, NM, Ramon and Francisco Contreras of Anthony, NM; one sister Ernestina Legarreta of Chihuahua, Mexico. He was a beloved grandfather of nine grandchildren Ed Estevan, Matthew and DeAndrea Trujillo, Valerie Silecchio, Jessica, Alexis and Amy Contreras, Daniel and Joey Franco and four great grandchildren Breana Solis, Donnie, Isabella and Gabriella Silecchio. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers Emilio, Chuy, Rosendo, Tavo and Beto Contreras; one sister Carolina Arzate and one grandchild Abe Contreras. He will be deeply missed by all his family and many friends who knew and loved him. Jose was a generous, loyal and passionate man with many interests. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM today Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7:00 PM. Jose's funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Friday, Sept. 21, 2007 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. Rite of Committal will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ed Estevan, Matthew Trujillo, Richard Ayala, Cody, Fred and Manny Contreras. Honorary Pallbearers will be Freddie Tarin, Arturo and Cesar Contreras. PDF Printable Version
