Jose P. Gonzales passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 28, 2009 at the age of 99 years old. He was born on January 8, 1910 in San Marcial, NM to Jose D. and Sara Pena Gonzales. Jose P. Gonzales passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 28, 2009 at the age of 99 years old. He was born on January 8, 1910 in San Marcial, NM to Jose D. and Sara Pena Gonzales. Joe will be greatly missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sons Jose R. and wife Eva of Amarillo, TX; Ernie of Las Cruces, NM; Robert and wife Julie of Santa Fe, NM; daughters RosaLee Chavez and husband Manuel of Las Cruces and Dora Garcia and husband Tom of Las Cruces. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years Carlotta; brothers, Amado, Diego, and Elijio; sisters, Celsa Angel and Emilia Baca; and great-grandson Christopher Joseph Rivas. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1 from 5 to 7 pm at Getz Funeral Home. A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Thursday, April 2 at 10 am at The Apostolic Tabernacle de Las Cruces, 3001 Missouri Avenue with services officiated by Pastor Jimmie Arellano. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Eric Chavez, Ernie Gonzales Jr., Jon Gonzales, Michael Gonzales, Robert Gonzales Jr., and Steven Gonzales. PDF Printable Version
