It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Jose "Pepe" V. Luna. He joined our heavenly father on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at home in Las Cruces New Mexico surrounded by his family. He was born May 2, 1916, in Pueblo Colorado to Gorgonio Luna and Isidra Villa Luna. He worked for Stahman Farms for 26 years, and retired as a caretaker from Masonic Cemetery in 1981. On August 3, 1937 in Fabens, Texas he married the love of his life Carmen Ruiz. Jose has 2 living sisters Maria Luna from Vado, New Mexico and Cristina Luna from El Paso, Texas. He enjoyed playing wachas and handball as a young man. He also enjoyed dancing and watching his favorite team the LA Dodgers. Jose was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his spouse Carmen of 76 years. He leaves behind four children, Cristina Luna Guzman (Jimmy deceased) Jose R. Luna (Olga) Socorro Beltran (Efrain) Juan Luna (Amy). He also helped raise four granddaughters Isela Truelove (Gary) Patsy Vigil (Richard) Anna Ramirez (Manny) Cynthia Mancha (Danny). Mr. Luna had 24 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, 55 Great great grandchildren and four great great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews' nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, two children Crecencio Luna, and Elena Lujan and great granddaughters Jennifer Martinez, Yvonne and Monique Moreno. Pallbearers are to include Noah Guzman, Osvaldo Luna, Johnny Luna, Gabriel Martinez, Arnold and Adrian Lopez. Honorary pallbearers include all his granddaughters and grandsons. The family would also like to thank Mesilla Valley Hospice, HomeKare for their time and care, a special thanks to his CNA Jesus. Visitation for Jose will be on Monday July 7, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Getz Funeral Home. A prayer vigil will be 10 am Tuesday July 8, 2014 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church with the funeral mass to follow after the prayer vigil. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. PDF Printable Version
