Joseph Carl Alsworth, 58, passed away suddenly on June 26, 2012 at his home in Las Cruces. He was born in Houston, TX on April 24, 1954 to Thomas and Carol Alsworth, who preceded him in death. In Houston, he worked for the Harris County Judicial System before following his son to Las Cruces. In Las Cruces he worked at Citizens Bank and Cracker Barrel Restaurant before becoming employed at White Sands Federal Credit Union in the Collections Department. He left the credit union and received his medical disability from Social Security in 2009. Joe loved life and never allowed his Cerebral Palsy to stop him from participating in local civic organizations such as the Sister Cities program. He enjoyed painting and collecting coins and antiques. He frequently assisted his wife, Rosemary Archibeque Alsworth with her business, Make Believe Jewelry and Gifts. He was a "pal" to many neighborhood children and always had a good word to say to everyone. At the time of his death, he was serving as Treasurer of Jornada Masonic Lodge. He was also a past patron of Woodbine Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in El Paso, TX. Joe is survived by his wife, Rosemary, son David W. Alsworth and his mother, Connie Alsworth; step-daughter Denise Hahn and husband Joel of Pearland, TX and her children Jimmy, Andy and Teddy Frick; brothers David Lee Alsworth and wife Kathy of Pearland, TX, and Tommy Alsworth of Houston, TX. Ricky Alsworth preceded him in death many years ago; sisters Jeanne Puryear and husband Teddy of Llano, TX, Sue Houska and husband Dan of Eustace, TX and twin sister Joan Bacon and husband John of Redondo Beach, CA. He is also survived by his "second mom and dad" Don and Edith Langston of Pasadena, TX and "adopted sister" Mary Gamez of Charleston, SC, many nieces and nephews and a wide variety of close, personal friends from every walk of life. He will be sorely missed by all with whom he became acquainted and called him friend. A memorial service will be held at his church, Community of Christ, 1210 Montana at 2PM Saturday, June 30 followed by a Masonic funeral service and an Eastern Star funeral service. A reception will follow at the church. Cremains will be interred at Holy Cross Church Columbarium at a later date. PDF Printable Version
