Joseph Dale Tibbs, 86 of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday July 23, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born October 18, 1922 in Washita, Oklahoma to Joseph and Winnie Tibbs, before moving to New Mexico at a young age. Growing up with a strong work ethic Dale as he was known by his friends and family found a job at the age of 14 with the Price Black Dairy in the Hatch Valley and becoming the youngest foreman in the dairy's history at age 23. He would work for the dairy for 51 years retiring at the age of 65 after many years of faithful service. Dale was an avid outdoorsman not missing a hunting or fishing trip with family and friends since 1937 He loved toasting bread on a stick over the open campfire. He looked forward every year to helping setup the Farm Bureau BBQ enjoying the fellowship of the event. He was a devoted Christian serving as Pastor of Community of Christ Church in T or C, New Mexico for a brief time and staying on as an Elder to help the church whenever needed. He was a kind, giving man who will be missed dearly by all of his family and friend who know and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Edna Tibbs of the family home, daughter Cathy Ann and Randy Call of Lubbock, Texas, brother Wayne and Wanda Tibbs of Las Cruces, New Mexico, sisters Alma Boyd of Sweetwater, Texas, Ozell Miller of Clovis, New Mexico, grandchildren, Shawna Lee and Keith Shouse of Franklin, Ohio, Kip Call of Lubbock, Texas, Scott Goad of Pittsburgh, Texas and Jennifer Bell of Nebraska, great-grandchildren, Joseph Elliot and Jacob Anthony Shouse and Conner and Logan Goad and by many friends and extended family. A visitation will be held from 6-7 PM Wednesday July 29, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Held at 10:00 AM on Thursday July 30, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Garden of Memories in Hatch, NM.
