Joseph M. "Smokey" Jackovich passed away on April 29, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM after illness complicated by pneumonia, diabetes and age. He was aged 89 years, 28 days. Joseph M. "Smokey" Jackovich passed away on April 29, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM after illness complicated by pneumonia, diabetes and age. He was aged 89 years, 28 days. He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Wozniak of Clearwater, Florida; two brothers, Ted Jackovich of Roosevelt Lake, Arizona; George Jackovich of Las Cruces, NM and many nieces nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by brothers, John, Mike, Steve, Nick, Joe, Andy, and Frank as well as sisters, Ann, Mary, and Helen. At Smokey's request, cremation has taken place and Memorial Funeral Mass will be at 5:30 PM on Friday May 23, 2008 at St. Albert the Great Newman Center, 2615 S. Solano, Las Cruces with Fr. Mitch Dowalgo officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Albert the Great Columbarium. The VFW Post 10124 will conduct military honors and do presentation of the US flag. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Jackovich, George Thomas Jackovich Jr, Christopher Jackovich, John Francis Jackovich, Rose Mary Marviack, and Fred Barncastle. PDF Printable Version
