Josephine (Pina) Perez, 90, has finally gone home on January 4, 2005 in Las Cruces, NM. She was born in Agua Caliente, Arizona on March 27, 1914 to Jose and Dolores Conde. Although Josephine went by several nicknames she was better known to many as "Nana" she was known for her generosity in helping others always opening her home to everyone, no one was a stranger to her, no one ever went hungry in her house with that famous pot of beans on the stove and hot pot of coffee going. Once you meet her you had a new nana for life. Her husband and her had many happy memories running the Texco Gas station for many years. She was also the president of Sentiel Elementary School Board for 25 years. After retiring she enjoyed crochet, reading the Enquirer and doing crossword puzzles. In leaving Arizona to move to Las Cruces to join her children, she made a lot of compa's and friends along the way and it goes without saying that along with her family we will all miss her very much. She was survived by son Ignacio (Billy) Perez Jr., daughters Eleanor (Nonie) Villegas and Mary Guadalupe Silvas. Son-in-law Hector Silvas, daughter-in-laws Gwen Perez and Priscilla Perez. Sister Prieta La Plante, and her 18 grandchildren, numerous great grand children and the number of great great grandchildren are still growing. She was preceded in death by her husband Ignacio Perez Sr. two sons Robert and Manuel, brother Lote Conde and one sister Connie Nunn. A visitation will be held Sunday January 9, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home from 6-7 PM. A rosary will follow th same evening at 7 PM also at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral mass will be given at 10 AM Monday January 10, 2005 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Fr. Miguel Briseno officiating. The rite of committal will take place in Agua Caliente, AZ.
