Joy Lim Arthur, 79, of Las Cruces, died on July 9th 2015. Joy, the wife of the late Admiral Paul K. Arthur and the mother of Gregory Venancio Arthur and Lia Frieda Brodnax, passed away at Mountain View Hospital after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Joy was born on December 2nd, 1935 in Manila, Philippines, the daughter of Venancio F. Lim and Alegria Nepomuceno Lim. She is survived by her elder sister, Isabelita Lim Llames, and by her two children and four grandchildren. Joy graduated in 1956 from Purdue University, where she was one of the first female students to earn a degree in electrical engineering. In 1958, she and Paul were married in Las Cruces, and both began long and distinguished careers at White Sands Missile Range. She was the first woman engineer to work at White Sands. In 1966, Joy earned a Master's Degree in electrical engineering at New Mexico State University while continuing to work as an Army researcher at White Sands. In 2005, both Joy and Paul were inducted into the White Sands Missile Range Hall of Fame. After her retirement in 2005, Joy enjoyed travelling extensively with her husband, cultivating roses and orchids, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. A Prayer Vigil is scheduled for Wednesday July 15, 2015 at 9:00 am to be immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Interment will follow Funeral Mass at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
