Juan "Donnie" Baca, 90, of Las Cruces, died Wednesday July 26, 2006. He was born April 1, 1916 in San Miguel, NM to Jose and Petra Baca. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II. While in the service of his country he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Eastern Campaign Medal and a P.O.W. After the service to his country Juan retired from Douglas Aircraft. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his companion Christine Beers of Las Cruces; sons John Baca and wife Elizabeth of Whittier, CA and Gilbert Baca of Las Cruces; sister-in-law Carol Baca of Las Vegas, NV and by his grandchildren Margaret, Betty, Robert, Jason and Sara. Many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive Juan. He was preceded in death by his son Jesus and daughter Cecilia. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 PM on Monday, July 31, 2006 at Living Waters Assembly of God where a memorial will follow at 6:00 PM. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 also at Living Waters Assembly of God with Pastor Felix Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM on Tuesday August 1, 2006 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, NM with military honors. Pallbearers will be members of Juan's family and friends.
