Juan M. Delgado, 91 of Las Cruces, NM died peacefully at home on Monday, August 27, 2007. He was born March 12, 1916 in Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico to Pablo and Juana Medina Delgado. A resident of Las Cruces since the 1950's, he was a life member of the Elk's Lodge and a member of San Albino Catholic Church. Juan was a caring and compassionate man. It was his nature to share a friendly smile, a kind word and a helping hand. His life's greatest accomplishments and pleasures were his love, respect and faithfulness to his loving wife, family and friends. Juan loved sports but especially the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Las Cruces High School Baseball team. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Juan is survived by three sons, Juan Delgado of Las Cruces, NM; Luis A. Delgado and wife Dora of Las Cruces, NM; and Frank Delgado of Albuquerque, NM. Two daughters, Rose Mary Torres and husband Ricardo of Las Cruces, NM; and Socorro Delgado of Martha's Vineyard, Mass. Also surviving Juan are 11 grandchildren, Rose, Debra, Rick and Gabriel Torres; Marisa Catano and husband John; Jacinto Pablo Delgado and wife Joanna; Silvia Teresa and Maria Luisa Delgado, Carla Garcia, Frank and Leticia Delgado. As well as seven great grandchildren, Celeste and Dominic Catano; Arturo and Emilianio Lara; Micaela Julietta Delgado, and Laurence and Nathaniel Archuleta. Juan was preceded in death by his wife, Socorro Alvarez Delgado in 1994 and a grandson, Robert Andrew Olayo in 1995. At Juan's request, cremation has taken place and the Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at San Albino Catholic Church with the Memorial Mass following. Officiating will be Msgr. Robert Getz. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
