Juan Singh, 91, a life-long resident of Anthony, TX and pillar in our community, passed away unexpectedly on October 24th, 2021. Juan, affectionately known as Johnny, and in closer circles, Popo, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Juan is survived by his wife, Nena Singh; his children, Ida Singh, David Singh and Yolie, Chanan Singh and Chrissy, Susie Singh and Jesus; his grandchildren, D.J. Singh and Kristine, Krystal Singh and Ben, Jacquelyn Ortiz and Eric, Meagan Stephenson and Matthew, Chanan Singh Jr., and Shelby Singh; his great-grandchildren, Alexis, Mia, Kylie, Tyler, and Eleanor; sister, Nellie Madrid; brother in-law, Ramon Tellez and Irma; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Chanan Singh and Romana Sanchez, and brother, Robert Singh. Juan served in the military during the Korean War and became a successful, independent farmer at the early age of 21, later taking charge of his father Chanan's farm at the age of 28. Described by many as an innovator and "a man before his time", Juan continued to actively take part in the cultivation of his land, remaining a passionate grower until his final day. Because of his unwavering involvement in so many facets of his community, many can speak to his character and intellect. He served on the Anthony ISD Board of Trustees for numerous years and was a long-time active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Alongside his dedication to the community was an ardent devotion to his family. Juan Singh, above all, was a family man. Each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will forever hold memories of Dallas Cowboy games (as he was a dedicated fan), daily word puzzles, and long road trips to Disneyland, his favorite vacation spot. He adored his wife, Nena, who he was devoted to for 65 years. Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4th, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. The burial will take place immediately following the mass at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Las Cruces, NM. First Visitation
