Kate R. Melendrez, 83, of Las Cruces went to be with her lord, Friday, April 8, 2005 at her home. She was born Feb. 24, 1922 in Dona Ana, New Mexico to Canuto and Margarita Reyes. An active member in the catholic community, she sang in the choir at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church in Dona Ana and was a member of St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Kate R. Melendrez, 83, of Las Cruces went to be with her lord, Friday, April 8, 2005 at her home. She was born Feb. 24, 1922 in Dona Ana, New Mexico to Canuto and Margarita Reyes. An active member in the catholic community, she sang in the choir at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church in Dona Ana and was a member of St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Kate loved to sing as a hobby, and played the organ and the accordion. She also did needle point and crochet which she passed on to her grand daughter. Kate will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew her. She is survived by her son Alfred Melendrez and his wife Bea of Las Cruces. A daughter Josie Melendrez Sambrano and her husband Ron of Las Cruces. Grandchildren, Valerie D. Melendrez Crouse, Diane M. Melendrez and Dominic Polanco. Also by great grandchildren, Meagan and Maddy Crouse. Step grandchildren, R.J. Sambrano. Erik Terrazas, Amber Sambrano, and Jacob Sambrano also survive her. Her husband Jacinto, two sisters, Tila and Lita, a niece Mange Robinson and a nephew David Archuleta, preceded her in death. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Monday, April 11, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home where a Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 PM. Danny Archuleta Sr., his wife Lupe and Valerie Crouse will be providing the music for the prayer vigil. The Funeral Mass is at 1:30 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church.
