Kathleen Johnson 77 of Las Cruces, NM passed from this life on Monday, January 24, 2011. She was born on May 7, 1933 to Gerald and Ruth Morris in West Branch, Iowa. Kathleen was a member of East Mesa Baptist Church for 20 plus years, where she served as Sunday School Secretary. For many years Kathleen was active in the Homemakers Extension Club. She loved quilting and was a member of the local Quilter's Guild. She was also an accomplished seamstress, loved reading, and was a Notary Public. In the past, Kathleen was a foster parent, providing love and care to less fortunate children. Until we meet with her again, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Kathleen is survived by her four children, Bill Johnson and wife Phyllis, Gary Johnson and wife Judy, Bobbie Jo Head and husband Greg, all of Las Cruces, and Shirley Hall and husband Mike of Hagerman. Also surviving is one brother, Gerald, and four sisters, Gloria, Doris, Cindy and Lea, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Gerald and Ruth, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Homer Johnson, and granddaughter, Carrie Johnson. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, January 28, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 am on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Linvell Tisdale, Pastor of East Mesa Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, NM. Serving, as pallbearers will be Levi Buckelew, Greg Head, Shawn Hall, Brandon Johnson, Mike Hall, and Casey Johnson. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Mom & Dad's Assisted Living in Hatch NM, for the care provided, and the concern and support offered during their difficult time. PDF Printable Version
