Kenneth Herbert Thiessen, 82, passed away in Las Cruces, NM on May 17, 2018. He was born in Detroit, MI on July 28, 1935. He served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. Ken loved to watch football, baseball, and basketball. He also loved camping, fishing, water skiing, and snow skiing. He would volunteer his time every Veterans Day. Kenneth Herbert Thiessen, 82, passed away in Las Cruces, NM on May 17, 2018. He was born in Detroit, MI on July 28, 1935. He served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956. Ken loved to watch football, baseball, and basketball. He also loved camping, fishing, water skiing, and snow skiing. He would volunteer his time every Veterans Day. He is survived by his wife Rita Thiessen (Martinez) of 48 years. Their children Dave Thiessen, Manuel Ontiveros, Demetrio Ontiveros, Nancy Ontiveros, and Carolyn Thiessen (Flora). Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his mother Cassie and father Herbert Thiessen and his sister Carolyn Thiessen (Pollreiz). One grandson and one great-grandson. Visitation will begin at 5 pm on Tuesday May 22, 2018 with a Rosary at 7 pm at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 am Wednesday May 23 ,2018 at Immaculate Heart of Mary with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
