Kenneth Johnson, 73 of Las Cruces, NM died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was born January 17, 1934 to Melvin and Bertha Johnson and was raised in Union County, New Mexico. Kenneth was retired from the Physical Science Lab at NMSU after 27 years of employment. Kenneth Johnson, 73 of Las Cruces, NM died Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was born January 17, 1934 to Melvin and Bertha Johnson and was raised in Union County, New Mexico. Kenneth was retired from the Physical Science Lab at NMSU after 27 years of employment. He also attended Calvary Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, and exploring, especially with his constant companion for nine years, his red heeler, "Reba". Ken was a family man who always put his wife and children first and if someone needed his help, no distance was too far away for him to give it. He was a great storyteller and enjoyed sharing his yarns with his nieces and nephews and meeting with Renee's Rowdies for coffee. He is survived by his wife Judy of the family home; one daughter Karen Brozik and her husband Alan of Surprize, AZ and one son Melvin Johnson and his wife Betty of Raton, NM. Also surviving Kenneth is one brother Johnnie Johnson and his wife Ruth Ann of Deming, NM, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Melvin and Bertha he was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Johnson Killgore. Visitation for Kenneth will be from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2 PM on Friday, October 12, 2007 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1800 Locust. Officiating will be Pastor Chris McRae.
