Our real-life superhero, Kenneth R. Scott, was born on June 19, 1953. He enjoyed reading good western books and watching movies; his favorite was 'Incredibles' which is only right as he was indeed incredible. He loved capturing amazing memories as much as making them and cooking as much as eating. Those that knew and loved him will remember his funny sayings, stories and jokes. Ken was a true, no-nonsense man that beamed with integrity and had a presence of respect as rightfully deserved. He was never afraid to speak his mind. He instilled so much wisdom and knowledge; if you had a conversation with him and didn't learn something, you weren't paying attention. Ken retired from the United States Air Force as a Captain. Before the Air Force, he was in the Army. After retiring, he worked at White Sands Missile Range and the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department. He was drafted to fight the biggest war of his life when he was diagnosed with serious health problems that caused pain daily. He was told many times he wouldn't survive a certain amount of time but like the brave captain he was, he sat all his soldiers (children) down and prepared them for their own battle they would face without him. He created a structured plan, picked out his final suit and fought a good fight, always surprising doctors by winning battles they were sure the enemy had already won. After years of outliving his life expectancy with all the ailments affecting him, his true Commander-in-Chief stepped in and commended him for his amazing fight and let him know that his war was now over. He was released from his final battle on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at home surrounded by his family as his last wishes called for. He was welcomed by his parents Tom & Ruby Spikes; brothers Junebug, Pete, and Alfred and his sister Wanda; Nephew Vincent Jerome Scott; former Sister-In-Law Martha Venegas; his Aunt Katie and Uncle Emmitt; his best friends Albert & Audrey Sterling, and Phillip Lewis; and In-laws Manuel and Maria Venegas. Ken was a successful, hardworking provider and a loving father and husband. His pride and joy was truly the legacy he created and whom he is survived by: his wife (high school sweetheart) Virginia Scott; his sons Jay Venegas and Larry Scott (Carol Nuez); daughters Tracy Scott, Kathy Scott (David Pearson) and Vanessa Scott; and his loving grandchildren: Alize Scott, Sean Chagolla, Amani Scott, Andrew Pearson, Jazmine Pearson, Josiah Olivo and DeSean Robinson. We love and miss you so much and will FOREVER continue to honor and salute you. Like always we got your 6. This is not a goodbye but "I'll see you later."
