Kenneth W. "Mike" Royce "I was born…I lived…I died" Mike Royce went to meet The Lord January 19, 2018 in Las Cruces, NM. His passing ended an 11 month battle with prostate cancer. Mike was born November 5, 1935 in Dona Ana, NM to Bill and Elizabeth Royce. He lived in Salem, NM until they moved to La Mesa, NM. He graduated from Gadsden High School in 1955 where he was a center on the Varsity football team. His senior year they won the State Championship. After graduation he joined the Navy and was an Aviation Mechanic from 1955 to 1959. Upon leaving the Navy went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. He married Bobbie Jean Maxwell in 1960 and lived out the rest of his days in La Mesa. He loved horses, team roping and family. Mike is survived by his wife Bobbie Royce, two sisters Tince Higgins and Dolly Hemely, his children Bill Royce, Tina Barrientos and Sandra Royce, 9 grandchildren (Shane Royce, Anthony Amezola, Levi Montes, Michael Amezola, Albert Montes, Chase Royce, Cody Amezola, KyLee Montoya, and Danny Mikel/Royce) and 6 great grandchildren. Per Mike's request, there will be no services held for him at this time however the family will have a celebration of life for him in the near future for family and friends. The family would like to thank Mesilla Valley Hospice for the love and care they showed Mike in his last days and for making him feel like he was at home and with family. We would also like to thank Kenneth and Joyce Cohorn and all of Dad's friends for all their help after his passing. Everything you have done is greatly appreciated.
