Kimberly A. Carpenter, age 56, an explorer and explainer, a painter and pirate, a cowgirl and cohort passed away at home on Monday October 14 and is playing max bet at that big casino in the sky! She fought a courageous 14 month battle with cancer giving it the finger at every turn. Kim was a self taught artist and could be seen selling her tiles, prints and cards at the Farmers and Mesilla Markets on weekends. Kim was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. She attended both the University of Wyoming and University of Denver receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Literature & Masters in Philosophy. She is survived by her partner and best friend, Marie Beatty. They were together for 28 years and had a great ride! A loving daughter, sister and aunt, she leaves behind her mother Sharon Carpenter of Kelly, Wyoming; brothers Bryce (Kim) of Casper, Wyoming; David (Cindy) of Soldotna, Alaska; nieces Alyssa, Kyrstin (Shaun), Kylee, Jenny (Brock) and nephew David (Brianna). Kim is predeceased by her father Don Carpenter and favorite canine buddy Pixie. She leaves behind many friends and family throughout the country. Countless thanks for the kind and compassionate care provided by Dr. Bruce Greenfield, staff and especially the nurses at MMC Cancer Center. You made her journey bearable with smiles and laughter. Also, the fantastic team at Mesilla Valley Hospice particularly Nurse Kate and CNA Virginia. As requested, cremation has taken place and services will be private, many and often. At a later date, her ashes will be scattered in New Mexico, Wyoming, and Nevada. May the beauty of Kim's artwork give you comfort and keep her spirit alive. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Mesilla Valley Hospice or the Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Association (cvsaonline.org). PDF Printable Version
