Lauana Rogers Payne, 74, passed away, Monday, August 3, 2015 in Las Cruces after a long battle with Early Onset Alzheimer's. She was born April 6, 1941 to Milton Rogers and Rowena Flake Rogers, in Miami, AZ. Lauana grew up in Mesa, AZ and graduated from Mesa High School. She worked at Dwayne's Pharmacy during her young adult years and it was during this time that she met the love of her life, Dennis Lee Payne. Lauana and Dennis were sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS Mesa Arizona Temple on July 28, 1966. They lived in Virginia, Arizona, and Panama, while Dennis pursued his education and served in the Army. Finally, settling in Dona Ana, together they built their home while Dennis worked on his tractors and farm and as a US Border Patrol Agent and Lauana did all things domestic including raising her sons. She had a love for sewing, quilting and canning. She loved looking pretty and was always happy to host a family party for any occasion! She served with love and diligence in many callings at church, some of which included Primary and Relief Society President, chorister, choir director and with the Young Adults. She always supported Dennis during his church leadership callings and lovingly cared for him while he battled cancer even though she was struggling with her advancing Alzheimer's. She had a deep love and testimony of Jesus Christ and his Atonement. She would often be found in prayer and seeking ways to serve others. Lauana is lovingly survived by her sons and their families, George and Joanne, Jimmy and Sandra, William and Deanna, all of Farmington and Daniel and Sarah, of Las Cruces. More than anything, Lauana loved being a Grandma to David (Morgan), Dallin (Merrie), Joshua, Makenna, Mitchell, Jared, Amy, Isaac, Emily, Taylor, Mason, Shanna, Liberty, Dennis and Dawn. She was preceeded in death by Dennis, her husband, of 41 year. The family is especially grateful to the kindness, love and wonderful care she received while residing in the Haciendas at Grace Village. A funeral Service is scheduled to be held on Saturday, August, 8, 2015 at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Venus Chapel. Lauana will be laid to rest beside Dennis in the Masonic Cemetery where her grave will be dedicated to the Lord by oldest son, George L. Payne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the General Missionary Fund for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
