Luis S. Lechuga 86, entered eternal life Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Ambrosio Guillen Texas Veteran Home in El Paso, Texas. He was born August 23, 1928 in Chamberino, NM, to Gregorio Lechuga and Ester Saenz Lechuga of Chamberino. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in La Mesa, NM. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his loving wife Concepcion "Concha" Lechuga, Brothers; Jose, Felipe, Manuel, Juan and Pedro Lechuga, and his Sisters Guadalupe Ortega, Catalina Gomez, Jesusita Griego, and Cleotilde Concha, and grandson Damien O. Avelar. He is survived by his Daughter Bonnie and Husband Ray Avelar, Daughter Sylvia and Husband Paul Perez, and Son Johnny R. Lechuga and wife Virginia, Granddaughters Trish Perez and partner Ivan Cervantes, Monica and Husband Mario Velasco, Jennifer N. Perez, and Heather Avelar and partner Billy Orrantia and grandson Paul Braden, and three great-grandchildren Devin Perez, Mario "M.J" Velasco, and Mariah Velasco along with many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. He was a United States Marine who proudly served his country during WWII in a combat engineer regiment. During his lifetime he was employed at the Chamberino Cotton Gin, Bureau of Reclamation District, and retired from Fort Bliss Civil Service. He was a caretaker for San Luis Cemetery in Chamberino, NM. He was an administrator of La Esperanza Bar in Chamberino. Luis was a cotton farmer and enjoyed farming vegetables and fruits. His favorite pastimes were listening to country and mariachi music, he also enjoyed deer hunting and making chicharrones and carnitas in his perol for his parties. His favorite thing to do was watch WWE wrestling and LA Dodgers. A celebration of his life will be held at San Jose Catholic Church, La Mesa, NM on Monday December 1, 2014 at 10:00 am and burial shall follow immediately after the mass at San Jose Cemetery with Military Honors.
