Laramie Anne Gegax died suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Las Cruces, NM on Oct. 23, 2006. She was born to Douglas and Betty Jo in Las Cruces on December 6, 1996. Laramie attended Tombaugh Elementary School and was in the fourth grade. During her short life, Laramie brought joy and laughter to many. She was a great friend who was always ready for fun. Laramie was an extremely intelligent and creative little girl. Some of her favorite activities included swimming, riding her scooter, singing in choir, practicing Karate and attending the NMSU women's volleyball and basketball games. Laramie loved all animals . . . especially horses. Survivors include her mom and dad: Betty Jo and Douglas; her younger brother, Dylan and her younger sister, Jessa; her paternal grandparents: Mitch and Barbara Gegax from San Diego, California; her maternal grandparents: David and Beverly Randazzo from Buffalo, New York; her aunts: Kathy Acosta and Ellen Spencer from San Diego, and Kay Randazzo from Buffalo; her uncles: David Randazzo from Buffalo and Joshua Joesphs from San Diego; and her special cousins: Ryan and Kassandra Acosta from San Diego. Laramie had the best family a little girl could ask for. She will be deeply missed. Because of Laramie's love for school and because of the family's deep appreciation for the wonderful teachers she had while attending Tombaugh, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to: The Very Special Arts Program, Tombaugh Elementary School- 226 Carver Rd 88005 Attn. Lyn Boberg. Doug and Betty Jo would like to give their sincere thanks to the teachers and staff for all the care and compassion they showed to Laramie. Finally, the family would also like to thank all of their friends as well as Doug's students and colleagues at New Mexico State University. Their support, concern and empathy have given Doug and Betty Jo the inner strength needed to get through this very difficult chapter in their lives. A visitation with viewing will be held Friday October 27, 2006 from 5-7 PM at Getz Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 AM Saturday October 28, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home with no viewing at that time. PDF Printable Version
