Larry Don Maddox was welcomed into the loving arms of his heavenly father, December 7th, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with multiple myeloma.

Larry was born in Denver on March 19, 1950. He was adopted out of Denver by Donald and Martha Maddox and was raised in Farmington. Larry attended New Mexico Military Institute and served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam war, after which time he studied Psychology at New Mexico State University. He began his career as a plumbing contractor serving first with Roto Rooter. In 1981, he opened Maddox Plumbing which served the needs of Las Cruces for many years and continues to do so. Larry married and raised a family which was affected by divorce, but he continued to love and care for all his children and is deeply loved and respected by them as well as many others.

In 2002, the Lord brought Larry and his wife Di into marriage and they have been blessed with family, friends and a strong relationship to their Lord which has been the foundation of their long and happy marriage. Larry served as a Deacon at University Presbyterian Church. He and Di have ministered in Uganda and Mexico, in Lariner County Jail ministry and Las Cruces Kairos ministry. They have hosted Home Group Bible studies and they have enjoyed sharing their home with many family and friends.

Larry and Di have also been very involved in Legionier Ministries, attending annual conferences, participating in many Bible study trips and have recently set up a scholarship fund at Reformation Bible College in Hillary Zwaagstra's name to benefit the disabled who desire Christian Education.

Larry is survived by his wife Di, his children, Jason Maddox, Rachel Maddox, Kevin Maddox and family, and Valerie Monroe and family. He is also survived by Diane's children; Jacob Zwaagstra and family, Heather Lacy and family, Sarah Hogan and family, Tonya Jenkins and family, Renee Gunsaulis and family, and Lois Campbell, Larry's aunt, and family.

Viewing will be held at Getz Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 17, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. followed by A Celebration of life at 1:30 on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at University Presbyterian Church, 2010 Wisconsin Ave.
