It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son; father, brother, uncle and friend, Larry Lopez Trujillo, 51, of Las Cruces, NM on Saturday July 28, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center. He left this world to be with the Lord to whom he had shown great faith and devotion. During the course of his life, he touched the lives of many around him and will be remembered for his devotion to his family and church family, willingness to help anyone in need, athleticism and ability to inspire laughter. Larry "LT" was born the eldest of four children on Sunday November 20, 1960 to Mary L. Trujillo and the late Pete V. Trujillo in Las Cruces, NM. He graduated from Mayfield High School in 1979 where he participated in basketball, baseball and track. His love of sports never waned as he continued to play slow-pitch softball with Calvary Chapel Las Cruces softball team two days prior to his death. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Phillies fan. After attending NMSU, where he received the Silver R.O.T.C. Medal, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. While in the military Larry was Airborne Qualified and received an award for meritorious service as a 5-ton tractor driver for Starburst 87. Larry was also one of 124 cadets while in R.O.T.C. who participated in the Reserve Officers Association seminar in Washington which brings the top R.O.T.C. Cadets from all branches of the service for a three-day conference. After leaving the military his trade was in refrigeration where he worked with his best friend Jeff Smith for many years. Larry was dearly loved by his family, friends and church family and will be greatly missed. Family survivors include his mother, Mary "Bro" L. Trujillo; brother Rick P. Trujillo and wife Heatherlee; sisters Teri "Ter Dogg" Trujillo and Patty Morales; long time companion Pamela N. Martinez; daughters Danielle Viramontes, Kira Trujillo and Kailey "Boo" Martinez; nephews Aaron Trujillo, Josh "Skeeter" Morales, Matthew "Little Brother" Trujillo-Acosta; nieces Marie "Psycho" Morales, Faith "Scooter" Flores and Adrianna Trujillo; his loving Auntie Yolie and Uncle Tony Luna, and numerous uncles and cousins as well his loving Calvary Chapel family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Pedro B. and Teresa B. Lopez, Cruz and Alvina Trujillo; father Pete V. Trujillo; uncles Joe B. Lopez, Tony Trujillo and Ernest Trujillo. At his request cremation will take place and memorial services to celebrate his life will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at Calvary Chapel, 139 S. Main St. in the downtown mall with Pastor's Bob Ortega, Jay Wisner and Rick Kiscadon. Inurnment of his cremains will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The US Army will provide military honors. Serving as pallbearer will be Jeff Smith. PDF Printable Version
