LaRue McGee Edgmon November 29, 1931 - March 11, 2018 LaRue McGee Edgmon, 85, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 11, 2018. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Edge (Gordonlee) Edgmon, two daughters: Cindy (Lowell) Denton, and Ginger (Gary) Creighton; six grandchildren: Aaron, Curtis, Amy, Oma, Aric and Ariel; nine great-grandchildren: Norah, Beckett, Bentlee, Barrett, Kreyton, Rory, Margaret, Kaden and Eden. LaRue is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters. LaRue was born to Roxie and Owen McGee and raised in Purcell, Oklahoma, where she met Edge. They dated throughout high school and married after she graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1953. They moved to Artesia with their two young daughters in 1957. She worked as an RN in physician's offices and later at the College of Artesia. In 1983, she and Edge moved to Las Cruces and founded Horse N Hound Feed N Supply. She and Edge embraced their new life in Las Cruces, enjoying meeting new friends and customers. They retired in 2005 and sold their business to their grandson Curtis. LaRue was a member of the Chapter BF of PEO; she supported 4H and FFA youth programs and the New Mexico Farm And Ranch Heritage Museum. LaRue was a trailblazer. She earned her B.S. in Nursing in a time when few women graduated from college. She was the sole practitioner for the Student Health Clinic at the College of Artesia. She became a businesswoman when she and Edge opened Horse N Hound. Grammy was an inspiration to others, full of life and charged with an incredible charisma. She was a good wife, a great mom, and a fantastic Grammy. A celebration of her life will be held at the Getz Funeral Home, Saturday, March 17, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in her honor to your local 4H or FFA program.
