It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle, Larry Martinez of Las Cruces, NM. Larry passed away at the young age of 58 on Tuesday, September 27,2022 after a year-long courageous fight with Pancreatic Cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones and comfortable under Hospice care at the time of his passing. Larry was born on August 10, 1964, to Bertha (Payan) Martinez and Rodrigo Martinez in Ventura, California as the youngest of 5 children. Larry then attended and graduated from Rio Mesa High School in 1982. He later moved to New Mexico to accompany his parents. He was employed through Cal-Compact and Taylor Metro when he then married his wife Kristine Jo Martinez in October 1992. In 1993 Larry and his wife Kristine took in and raised his nephew Jesus Sandoval. Larry then went back to school at the Dona Ana Branch in Las Cruces and successfully graduated with an Associate's degree in Radiological Technology. In 1996 He was blessed to become the proud father to a Baby Girl, Sierra Rae (Martinez) Tabullo, who became his world. Larry worked in the Cardiac Cath Lab as an X-ray Tech at Mountain View regional Hospital for multiple years then accepted a traveling position in Ohio. Larry went on to Travel to different hospitals for seven years where he had the pleasure to meet many amazing people that became his dear friends. Larry ‘s number one team was the Los Angeles Dodgers. He loved off-roading in his Jeep Wrangler and loved exploring the outdoors. Larry also had a passion for firearms and frequently enjoyed going to the shooting range with his daughter. He later developed a hobby for Radio Controlled Cars and gardening. Larry's Daughter, Sierra, was his caregiver all through his illness, he always said that there was nothing she could not accomplish. Larry is survived by his wife of 30 years Kristine, his daughter Sierra Rae Tabullo (Husband David Tabullo), His nephew/son that he raised, Jesus Sandoval (Wife Cari Sandoval), his unborn grandbaby to be born in March of 2023 also Ian Sandoval, Seth Sandoval and Kaelah Sandoval whom all called him grandpa. His sister Alice Lopez of California, sister Teresa Mosqueda of California, sister Patricia Martinez, mother-in-law Luci Montenegro, brother-in-law Tony Montenegro, sister-In-Law Kathryn Montenegro (Companion Ronny), His niece Brianna McGee (Companion Brian), and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his sister Francisca Alvarez, his nephew Adam Alvarez and both parents Bertha and Rodrigo Martinez. Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 21st, at 10:00am at Getz Funeral Home. In lieu of gifting flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead donate to the American Cancer Society. Service Information
