Lawrence Paul Marbry was born on a farm in Crawford County, Illinois, on November 21, 1914. His death occurred at the Las Cruces Nursing Center on December 29,2005. Paul had a long and fulfilling life. His occupations in his 91 years were as interesting as he was. He went from working for Heath Candy in Illinois to being Director of the New Mexico State Dry Cleaning Board in Albuquerque with adventures in between as a member of the U.S. Border Patrol and as a Dona Ana County Deputy Sheriff in Hatch. Before his retirement he owned and operated the University Laundry and Cleaners in Las Cruces. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Enos and Nelle Marbry, his son Dr. Steven Marbry, his brothers Cecil, Lorenzo, and Clifford, his sisters Hazel McCoy and Mary Kelly. Paul is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lucille, as well as three grandchildren, Jon Marbry, Lindy Bridgers, and Lori Brown and seven great grandchildren, David, Michael, and Cody Bridgers, Sean Marbry, Avery, Dillon, and Kerali Brown, and his daughter-in-law Sharon Marbry. Special thanks to L & M Christian Care, the Village at Northrise, the Las Cruces Nursing Center, and especially Dr. Sidney Webb, Maria Zavala, and Joe York for the care and concern they showed to him. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 2, 2006 at 2 P.M. at the Church of God in Hatch, NM with Reverend Jim Wood officiating.
