Lee Houser is now spending his time with his beloved daughter Amy and his parents John and Ailleen. And Harry Caray. He is survived by his wife, Christine and his siblings Irene Grodner, John Houser, Shannon Haysmer, and Celeste Murutes. Born in Queens, NY, Lee travelled extensively with his family to various military installations. He eventually followed in his father's footsteps joining the Army shortly after graduating high school, and even choosing to be a Radar Technician. He was best known by his coworkers at WSMR, where he worked for over 37 years, as a spectacular Radar Controller. His voice was unmistakable when he spoke on the ‘net' not only for his distinctive timbre, but also due to his ability to lead missions. No one made the mistake of testing his authority and knowledge twice. Baseball was his favorite sport, where he excelled as both a hitter and pitcher. He was scouted by the Cincinnati Reds. The Chicago Cubs broke his heart so many times, but at last let him no longer have to say ‘next year' when he saw them win the World Series in 2016. Music was another passion. He possessed an exceptional voice that he was happy to share with everyone. Nobody scouted him as a singer, but they should have! He touched so many lives and loved all of you. Rather than name you all individually (the list really is that long!), please know you each shaped his life in so many ways. After a long struggle with medical issues, he passed on July 27th. Yep, on his 66th birthday. Only someone as special as my husband could make sure that 07/27 will be indelibly etched into our hearts and minds. The world is a smaller and less wonderful place. There will be a service at Getz Funeral Home (1410 East Bowman) on August 11th at 10:30 am. His wake is immediately following at The Game II (4131 Northrise). Delta variant has brought the COVID-19 virus back to our forefront. Please be mindful and wear your masks and practice social distancing. Service Information
