Lendal R. Smith Jr., 72, of Las Cruces, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006. He was born Aug. 27, 1934 in San Jose, CA to Lendal and Dudsey Smith Sr. Lendal was a veteran of the US Navy where he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Era. Lendal R. Smith Jr., 72, of Las Cruces, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006. He was born Aug. 27, 1934 in San Jose, CA to Lendal and Dudsey Smith Sr. Lendal was a veteran of the US Navy where he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Era. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #10124 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was also retired after many years of faithful service as an Electronics/Communications Specialist with the Dept. of Defense. Mr. Smith will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his two sons Paul Smith and wife Sandra of Las Cruces and Lendal R. Smith III and wife Tamra of Ozona, TX; brother Ronald Smith and wife Josephine of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren Wilton, Emily and Erica and by his 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Miquela; son Kenneth; his parents and sister Marilyn. A Celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, Dec. 18, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home. Burial of his cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. The US Navy, the Marine Corp League of Las Cruces and the V.F.W. Post #10124 will provide military Honors. PDF Printable Version
