Beloved husband, father and brother, Leo Leonard Luchini, 91 passed away in his home in Las Cruces, NM on Friday, March 11th, 2016. Leo was born on January 16th, 1925 in Derry, NM to Santiago N. Luchini and Dora O. Luchini. He had five siblings: Virginia Sullivan, Ray Luchini, Helen Vigil, Carolina "Carrie" Norero and Jim Luchini. On his birthday, January 16th 1955 he married Anastacia "Annie" Fajardo in Rodey, NM. Leo retired from civil service at White Sands Missile Range where he worked as a Climatic Technician. In addition, he was a co-owner and founder of Luchini's Auto Wrecking along with his brother Ray. Leo was a faithful Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral. A loyal Catholic, he was known for his devout commitment to faith, family and friends. Leo leaves behind a legacy of woodworking projects that brought him great peace to work on and joy to give away. He had a natural talent with music, and brought happiness to his family when he played guitar, harmonica and sang. Leo loved nature including camping, hunting, gardening and his pecan farm in Dona Ana. Leo Luchini will be remembered as a friendly, hardworking, and kind man who was devoted to family and faith. He was giving and loving and truly made an impact on each individual he connected with. Leo and his life will forever be carried in our hearts and memories. Leo is survived by his loving wife, Anastacia F. "Annie" Luchini of Las Cruces, NM, his children, Leo Leonard Luchini Jr. (Roberta Luchini) of El Paso, TX, Wallace Anthony Luchini (Cecilia Rede Luchini) of Dona Ana, NM and Gayle Annette Luchini Burns (Scott Burns) of Seattle, WA. His grandchildren are Jessica Luchini, Hannah Luchini Angatti (Ron Angatti), Kyle Luchini (Sofia Luchini), Clayton Luchini and Randilynn Cabrera. His great-grandchildren are Vanessa Boone, Claire Luchini and Oliver Luchini Angatti. Leo is also survived by a multitude of extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Santiago and Dora and his sister Virginia. Visitation will be held at Getz Funeral Home at 5:00pm on Thursday, March 17th, 2016 with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00pm. Funeral Services will be at 10:00am on Friday, March 18th, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral and will be laid to rest at Saint Joseph Cemetery. Reception to follow services (TBA).
