Leona Mary Collins, 79, of Las Cruces, NM died Thursday April 22, 2010 at Mesilla Valley Hospice La Posada. She was born on July 25, 1930 to Ivan and Mary Koliada in New York, New York. Leona had a passion for life, by helping our four legged friends find a home with Mutt Matchers or making sure everyone had an opportunity to read with the Literacy Counsel. In her spare time she enjoyed making crafts and working in her garden. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Leona is survived by her son Frank and wife Karleen Collins of Las Cruces, NM; daughter, Doreen and husband Joe Formato of West Orange, NJ; grandchildren, Chris Collins, Alex and Michael Formato and great-grandchildren, Nicole, Daniel and Hailey Collins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Felicia Maiorana. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday April 25, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel with Lucille Montoya officiating.
