Leona Patricia Davis

September 2, 1944 — February 14, 2013

Leona Patricia "Pat" Roach-Davis age 68, sunrise September 2, 1944, sunset February 14, 2013. Leona was born in Paterson, New Jersey, where she attended school and graduated from Eastside High School. From Leona's first marriage she became the mother to Jeffery, Mark, Lee and Craig. Her daughter Deborah preceded her in death as did her parents Leroy and Deborah Roach and two brothers Ronald and Lee Edward "Butchie". Because the doors of her heart were always open, Leona's life embraced many others in maternal love and some came to live in her home as sons. Leona was retired from the New Jersey Transit after many years of faithful service as a bus driver and later in her career as light rail conductor. After moving to New Mexico she became an active member of Greater St. John Church of God in Christ where she was known for her memorable poetry. Her husband Rudolph Davis and sister Gwendolyn Roach-Jenkins will cherish her memory. Also left to cherish her memory are nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends each one missing her love, laughter, warm embraces and great sense of humor. A visitation will be held from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday, February, 23, 2013 at Greater St. John Church of God in Christ, 1615 N. Mesquite St., Las Cruces, NM, where funeral services to celebrate her life will start at 10 am with Rev. Cleo Bell officiating. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery. PDF Printable Version
