Lionel M. Garcia, 37 years of age, passed away at Mountain View Hospital on August 10, 2014. Lionel was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his death. Lionel M. Garcia, 37 years of age, passed away at Mountain View Hospital on August 10, 2014. Lionel was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his death. He is now resting in peace with our Lord and will suffer no more. Lionel was born on March 10, 1977 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was brought to Las Cruces, New Mexico by his parents, Gabriel and Guadalupe Garcia, when he was seven years old and grew up in the Las Cruces area. As a young boy, Lionel excelled in sports, especially baseball which he loved. As an adult he worked in construction and in the restaurant industry. He attended Las Cruces High School and, recently, Dona Ana Community College where he was working towards a certificate in auto mechanics. Lionel is survived by his parents, Gabriel Garcia of Las Cruces and Guadalupe Garcia of Brazito, one daughter, Jasmine Duran of Dona Ana, two sons, Gabriel Garcia and Josiah Garcia of Las Cruces, one sister, Irene Garcia of Brazito, two brothers, Israel Garcia of Rio Rancho and Steven Garcia of Alamogordo and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Serving as pallbearers are Chris Calzada, James Soto Gonzales, Xavier Salais, Alfonso Salais, Xavier Garcia, and Abel Olande. Visitation will be at Getz Funeral Home on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Calvary Christian Center, 4211 Elks Dr., Las Cruces, New Mexico at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2014.
