Lois M. Wiggs died Sunday July 22, 2007 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was born March 8, 1930 in Sidney, Nebraska to Claude and Velma Martin. Lois was a homemaker and moved to Las Cruces with her husband of almost 53 years, Donald Wiggs in 1956. She got great satisfaction out of helping people, especially children. She was very giving of her time and was an advocate for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for many years. Lois collected recipes, enjoyed oil painting, crochet, and ceramics, but truly loved the outdoors and nature, whether going on walks, hiking, or traveling, Lois had a special place in her heart for all that God had made beautiful. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and true friend. She is survived by her husband Donald Wiggs of the family home, one daughter, Mary Wiggs of Las Cruces, NM; one brother Donald Martin of Albemarle, NC; four sisters Betty Grubbs of Alliance, NE; Harriett Strutton of Scottsbluff, NE; Inez Young and husband Bob of Minatare, NE; and Claudia Martin of Santa Ana, CA. She is also survived by four grandchildren Lois, Matthew, Lee, and Christina Medina, and many other family and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her son in June of 1997, Lawrence Wiggs. A visitation will be held Sunday July 29, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home from 5-7 PM with a prayer vigil to follow at 7 PM. The funeral mass will be held at 9 AM at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church on Monday July 30, 2007. The rite of committal will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Officiating will be Fr. Juan Moreno.
