Lorenza A. Garcia, 82, of Las Cruces, NM died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 5, 1929 in Tolleson, AZ to Manuel and Antonia Garcia. She will lovingly be remembered as the family leader, she was the first to call for help, and took pride in helping raise her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to music and doing her puzzles or...
Lorenza A. Garcia, 82, of Las Cruces, NM died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 5, 1929 in Tolleson, AZ to Manuel and Antonia Garcia. She will lovingly be remembered as the family leader, she was the first to call for help, and took pride in helping raise her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to music and doing her puzzles or crocheting, but her cooking and the joy she got from feeding her family and friends will truly be missed. Lorenza is survived her children, Veva (Carlos) Rivera, Loli & Valerie Garcia, Joe (Nellie) Garcia, Frances Melendrez, Susie (Robert) Silva, Berna (David) Saavedra, Roxy (Mannie Sr.) Sanchez, Christy Garcia, Mike (Heidi) Garcia, and Fragile Hernadez; her grandchildren, Joe Jr. (Jackie), Vanesa (Ricky), Raul (Laura), Antoinette, Jacob, Marissa (JP), Kimberly (Chad), Kassy, Lil Mannie, Lesenia, Eric, Benishia, Noelani, Lil David, Nicholas, and Adrian; her great grandchildren, Chelsea, Adriana, Caijra, Aytza, Alyna, Keeren, Shawn, Bernie, Elias Guillermo, Zoei, Sam, Briana, and Aubree; her great-great grandchild, Aubriana; by her brother Manuel A Jr.; and her sister, Emila Rocha;. Lorenza was preceded in death by her loving husband Refugio (Cuco) Garcia, parents Manuel (cuatro milpas) and Antonia Armendariz , her great grand children Amandah Madilynn and Isaiah Emiliano Regugio Rivera and her sister Marianne Madrid. A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, February, 5, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at Getz Funeral Home Chapel followed by a prayer vigil at 7: 00 p.m. The funeral mass will be on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church with Fr. Don Adamski officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raul Rivera, Ricky Rel, Jacob Garcia, Lil David Saavedra, Lil Mannie Sanchez, Eric Sanchez, Robert Silva and Tommy Florez.
